    Highlights of the trip:

    2 National Parks | 2 islands | 1 trip

6 hiking routes through the most spectacular landscapes

3 small charming hotels away from the hustle and bustle of life

    Tenerife

The largest and most populated island of the Canary archipelago is a natural paradise of contrasts, where volcanic beauty intertwines with paradisiacal beaches and a rich biodiversity.

Volcanic landscapes: El Teide, the third highest volcano in the world from its base, dominates the Tenerife landscape. Its imposing cone, crowned by a smoking crater, forms part of the Teide National Park, a unique ecosystem declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Solidified lava flows, volcanic tunnels and whimsical rock formations complete this scenery of amazing geology.

GarachicoCoasts: Tenerife boasts 342 kilometres of coastline, offering a variety of beaches to suit all tastes. From the golden sands of the south, ideal for sunbathing and water sports, to the hidden coves of the north, perfect for relaxing and diving. Wave lovers will also find their paradise on the western beaches, where conditions are ideal for surfing and windsurfing.

Cliffs and ravines: Tenerife’s coastline is dotted with impressive cliffs and ravines, the result of sea and river erosion. The Cliffs of Los Gigantes in the west rise majestically above the ocean, while the Barranco del Infierno in the south offers hiking trails through lush forests and refreshing waterfalls.

Natural parks: Beyond Mount Teide, Tenerife is home to other protected natural spaces of great ecological value. The Parque Rural de Anaga, in the northeast, is a refuge of laurel forests, a unique plant formation in the archipelago. The Teno Natural Park, in the west, preserves a rugged landscape with unique rock formations and a rich flora and fauna.

Tenerife Tajinaste Cañadas del Teide con el Pico del TeideBiodiversity: The island is home to a wide variety of animal and plant species, many of them endemic. The fauna includes birds such as the guirre, an endangered scavenger vulture, and the laurel forest, a humid forest with a rich flora and fauna. The ocean surrounding the island is also a lively ecosystem, with dolphins, whales and a wide variety of fish.

    La Palma

Crater de la Caldera de Taburiente Parque nacionalLa Palma, known as “La Isla Bonita”, is a natural paradise located in the Canary Islands, characterised by its exuberant vegetation, its volcanic landscapes and its virgin beaches.

Volcanic landscapes: La Palma is dominated by the Cumbre Vieja volcano, which forms part of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, a unique ecosystem declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Its solidified lava has created a landscape of astonishing beauty, with craters, lava flows and volcanic tubes.

Forests and vegetation: The island is covered in laurel forests, a type of subtropical rainforest that is home to a rich biodiversity. These forests, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are home to numerous endemic plant and animal species.

Calderas and ravines: La Palma is home to impressive volcanic calderas, such as the Caldera de Taburiente, the largest in the world. The ravines, the result of fluvial erosion, are also a characteristic element of the landscape of La Palma, offering hiking routes of great beauty.

Coasts and beaches: The island has 217 kilometres of coastline, where black volcanic sandy beaches alternate with crystal clear coves. The north offers wild beaches perfect for surfing and windsurfing, while the south boasts quieter beaches ideal for relaxing and swimming.

Biodiversity: La Palma is a paradise for nature lovers. The island is home to a wide variety of animal and plant species, many of them endemic. Among the fauna, birds stand out, such as the rabiche pigeon, a sea bird in danger of extinction, and the laurel forest, a humid forest with a rich flora and fauna. The ocean surrounding the island is also a lively ecosystem, with dolphins, whales and a wide variety of fish.

      Tenerife Anaga senderismo

From Cruz del Carmen to Punta de Hidalgo

With public bus we reach Cruz del Carmen in just 20 minutes. Then the trail enters the lush laurel forest of the Anaga Massif, crossing picturesque villages dotted with small cultivation terraces.
Little by little the path descends along the edge of the ravine towards the sea, and a splendid panorama opens up to us, with the blue sea as a backdrop. The vegetation now appears to be scrubland, totally different from that at the start of the route.
The trail goes along the Barranco del Rio until it reaches Punta del Hidalgo, a coastal town located in a lava delta where we will find natural pools next to the rough sea, ideal for a good swim before returning to the hotel. Our driver will take you from here and drop you off in La Laguna.

Tenerife Montaña Guajara Cañadas del Teide

      Guajara Mount & Lunar Landscape

Today a transfer from La Laguna puts us in the middle of the National Park of Cañadas del Teide. Next to the Parador, in the incomparable setting of the majestic Roques de García, the trail heads towards the Montaña de Guajara, a promontory that closes off Las Cañadas to the south, rising to 2,717 metres and offering an astonishing visual spectacle.
The path then penetrates the splendid pine forests until it reaches one of the most supernatural enclaves in the Canary Islands: the Lunar Landscape. This is a group of volcanic sandstone towers, conical in shape and highly stylised, formed by erosion and the passage of time. The setting resembles a modernist-style cathedral, taking us back to landscapes from other worlds.
The path heads in the direction of Vilaflor in its final stretch, ending in the same municipality where the following accommodation is located.

      Los Cristianos Tenerife

Walk to Los Cristianos along the seaside

The last walk in Tenerife will be from "Las Galletas" to "Los Cristianos", before leaving by ferry to La Palma. That's why our driver will follow your luggage to the "Puerto de Los Cristianos" to deposit it at a Fred Olsen ticket office. Today your route takes place next to the sea, almost always at the same level.
From Las Galletas you walk along the beachside path in a southerly direction, leaving the Red Cross building behind you. The path crosses some small beaches of creeks and natural pools until you enter a landscape of palm trees. A little further on you will reach the lighthouse "Punta de La Rasca". This is a protected natural area with splendid views of the coast that finally leads to the urbanisation "Palm-Mar".
From there you continue along the path until the first houses of "Los Cristianos" appear and, a little further on, the sheltered beach inside the harbour. Your luggage was put on the "Fred Olsen" trolley which leaves for La Palma at 19:00 h.

Today we climb to the top! Via a winding road, the driver will drop you off at Roque de Los Muchachos, 2,426 metres above the sea.  From there you will walk along the GR 131 along the edge of La Caldera to El Paso.
A magnificent trail with spectacular views over the whole island and a breathtaking view of neighbouring islands of Tenerife, La Gomera and El Hierro. The GR131 borders all the enormous crater, passing by the Pico La Nieve, the Pico de la Sabina and La Erita, an enclave that was the meeting place for the aborigines of La Palma, with cave engravings.

Today's walk takes you to the heart of the island. The Caldera de Taburiente National Park is a place steeped in history and geologically relevant. With a river that flows all year round, small waterfalls and cascades, pillow lavas that emerged from the deep sea and vertical walls with falls of up to 2000 metres.
The transfer takes you to Los Brecitos, access gate to La Caldera located at 1050 m of altitude. From there the path descends through a fragrant pine forest towards the interior of La Caldera. After reaching the camping area, you will have to cross the stream for the first time, stone by stone.
And after a break, the descent continues through El Reventón until reaching the Barranco de Las Angustias, where a short visit to the mythical Cascada de Los Colores (Colours Waterfall) is necessary. Now the path continues along the bed of the ravine, crossing the stream several times until you reach La Viña, where the driver will be waiting for you to return to the hotel.

      Difficulty

To successfully achieve the 6 Walks it is necessary a good physical condition, steady walk and lack of vertigo. According to the year season, temperatures can be extreme (hot and/or cold). Therefore, it is necessary to have suitable warm clothes permanently, to be removed as layers if necessary. Some parts of this trail include passages with slippery loose stone. Although most of this trail is roomy enough, certain sections are quite aerial and require caution. Using hiking poles is highly recommended.

      Trails

The Canary Islands has a well signposted network of trails. All sections where from our tours are perfectly marked. In addition to the detailed map of Tenerife, you will get from us precise indications of each route and assistance from the hotline on your walks.

      We recommend

Appropriate hiking clothing and sturdy footwear. During the tours, it is necessary to have food and drink enough, as well as sun protection, a cap, wind jacket and, in the winter months, warm clothing.

      Luggage transfer

We move your luggage from one accommodation to next, so on your hikes you should only carry a backpack with the essentials of the day. For the whole trip, it is recommendable to use a single suitcase, not bigger than 20 kg.

You can book at any date!
