Tenerife
The largest and most populous island of the Canarian archipelago presents itself as a natural paradise of contrasts, where volcanic beauty is intertwined with paradise beaches and rich biodiversity.
Volcanic landscapes: The Teide, the third tallest volcano in the world from its base, dominates the Tenerife landscape. Its imposing cone, crowned by a smoking crater, forms part of the Teide National Park, a unique ecosystem declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The solidified lava flows, volcanic tunnels and whimsical rock formations complete this scene of astonishing geology.
Coastline: Tenerife boasts 342 kilometres of coastline, offering a variety of beaches for every taste. From the golden sands of the south, ideal for sunbathing and water sports, to the hidden coves of the north, perfect for relaxation and diving. Wave lovers will also find their paradise on the western beaches, where conditions are ideal for surfing and windsurfing.
Cliffs and ravines: The coast of Tenerife is dotted with impressive cliffs and ravines, the result of marine and river erosion. The Cliffs of the Giants in the west rise majestically above the ocean, while the Barranco del Infierno in the south offers hiking routes through lush forests and refreshing waterfalls.
Natural parks: Beyond the Teide, Tenerife is home to other protected natural spaces of great ecological value. The Anaga Rural Park in the northeast is a refuge of laurisilva forests, a unique plant formation in the archipelago. The Teno Natural Park in the west preserves a rugged landscape with unique rock formations and rich flora and fauna.
Biodiversity: The island is home to a great variety of animal and plant species, many of them endemic. Among the fauna, birds stand out, such as the Egyptian vulture, a scavenger in danger of extinction, and the laurisilva, a humid forest with rich flora and fauna. The ocean surrounding the island is also a thriving ecosystem, with dolphins, whales and a great variety of fish.
La Palma
La Palma, known as “La Isla Bonita” (The Beautiful Island), is a natural paradise located in the Canary Islands, characterised by its lush vegetation, volcanic landscapes and unspoiled beaches.
Volcanic landscapes: La Palma is dominated by the Cumbre Vieja volcano, which forms part of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, a unique ecosystem declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Its solidified lavas have created a landscape of astonishing beauty, with craters, lava flows and volcanic tubes.
Forests and vegetation: The island is covered in laurisilva forests, a type of humid subtropical forest that harbours rich biodiversity. These forests, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are home to numerous species of endemic plants and animals.
Calderas and ravines: La Palma is home to impressive volcanic calderas, such as the Caldera de Taburiente, the largest in the world. The ravines, the result of river erosion, are also a characteristic feature of the La Palma landscape, offering hiking routes of great beauty.
Coastline and beaches: The island has 217 kilometres of coastline, where black volcanic sand beaches alternate with coves of crystal-clear waters. The north offers wild beaches perfect for surfing and windsurfing, while the south boasts calmer beaches ideal for relaxation and swimming.
Biodiversity: La Palma is a paradise for nature lovers. The island is home to a great variety of animal and plant species, many of them endemic. Among the fauna, birds stand out, such as the white-tailed laurel pigeon, a seabird in danger of extinction, and the laurisilva, a humid forest with rich flora and fauna. The ocean surrounding the island is also a thriving ecosystem, with dolphins, whales and a great variety of fish.

Difficulty level
To successfully complete the 6 routes it is necessary to have an adequate level of physical fitness. Depending on the time of year, temperatures can be extreme (heat and/or cold). It is therefore essential to always carry appropriate warm clothing that can be removed in layers as needed. Some parts of the trail have loose stones and other sections may be slippery. Although most of the path is wide, certain stretches are quite exposed and require caution. The use of trekking poles is highly recommended.
Trails
Tenerife and La Palma have a network of certified trails conforming to European standards.
We recommend
Appropriate hiking clothing and sturdy footwear. During the routes, it is necessary to carry food and sufficient drink, as well as sun protection, a hat, a lightweight windbreaker and, in the winter months, warm clothing.
Luggage transfer
We take care of transferring luggage from one accommodation to the next, so during the routes you only need to carry a day pack with the essentials. For the whole trip, the most practical option is a single suitcase weighing no more than 20 kg.
