Tenerife

The largest and most populous island of the Canarian archipelago presents itself as a natural paradise of contrasts, where volcanic beauty is intertwined with paradise beaches and rich biodiversity.

Volcanic landscapes: The Teide, the third tallest volcano in the world from its base, dominates the Tenerife landscape. Its imposing cone, crowned by a smoking crater, forms part of the Teide National Park, a unique ecosystem declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The solidified lava flows, volcanic tunnels and whimsical rock formations complete this scene of astonishing geology.

GarachicoCoastline: Tenerife boasts 342 kilometres of coastline, offering a variety of beaches for every taste. From the golden sands of the south, ideal for sunbathing and water sports, to the hidden coves of the north, perfect for relaxation and diving. Wave lovers will also find their paradise on the western beaches, where conditions are ideal for surfing and windsurfing.

Cliffs and ravines: The coast of Tenerife is dotted with impressive cliffs and ravines, the result of marine and river erosion. The Cliffs of the Giants in the west rise majestically above the ocean, while the Barranco del Infierno in the south offers hiking routes through lush forests and refreshing waterfalls.

Natural parks: Beyond the Teide, Tenerife is home to other protected natural spaces of great ecological value. The Anaga Rural Park in the northeast is a refuge of laurisilva forests, a unique plant formation in the archipelago. Tenerife Anaga senderismo

From Cruz del Carmen to Punta de Hidalgo

With public bus we reach Cruz del Carmen in just 20 minutes. Then the trail enters the lush laurel forest of the Anaga Massif, crossing picturesque villages dotted with small cultivation terraces.
Little by little the path descends along the edge of the ravine towards the sea, and a splendid panorama opens up to us, with the blue sea as a backdrop. The vegetation now appears to be scrubland, totally different from that at the start of the route.
The trail goes along the Barranco del Rio until it reaches Punta del Hidalgo, a coastal town located in a lava delta where we will find natural pools next to the sea, ideal for a good swim before returning to the hotel. Our driver will take you from here and drop you off in La Laguna.

Tenerife Montaña Guajara Cañadas del Teide

    Guajara Mountain & Lunar Landscape

Today a transfer from La Laguna puts us in the middle of the National Park of Cañadas del Teide. Next to the Parador, in the incomparable setting of the majestic Roques de García, the trail heads towards the Montaña de Guajara, a promontory located in Las Cañadas to the south, rising to 2,717 metres and offering an astonishing visual spectacle.
The path then penetrates the splendid pine forests until it reaches one of the most supernatural enclaves in the Canary Islands: the Lunar Landscape. This is a group of volcanic sandstone towers, conical in shape and highly stylised, formed by erosion and the passage of time. The setting resembles a modernist-style cathedral, taking us back to landscapes from other worlds.
The path heads in the direction of Vilaflor in its final stretch, ending in the same municipality where the following accommodation is located.

    Los Cristianos Tenerife

Walk to Los Cristianos along the seaside

The last walk in Tenerife will be from "Las Galletas" to "Los Cristianos", before leaving by ferry to La Palma. That's why our driver will follow your luggage to the "Puerto de Los Cristianos" to deposit it at a Fred Olsen ticket office. Today your route takes place next to the sea, almost always at the same height.
From Las Galletas you walk along the beachside path in a southerly direction, leaving the Red Cross building behind you. The path crosses some small beaches of creeks and natural pools until you enter a landscape of palm trees. A little further on you will reach the lighthouse "Punta de La Rasca". This is a protected natural area with splendid views of the coast that finally leads to the urbanisation "Palm-Mar".
From there you continue along the path until the first houses of "Los Cristianos" appear and, a little further on, the sheltered beach inside the harbour. Your luggage was put on the "Fred Olsen" trolley which leaves for La Palma at 19:00 h.

    Difficulty level

To successfully complete the 6 routes it is necessary to have an adequate level of physical fitness. Depending on the time of year, temperatures can be extreme (heat and/or cold). It is therefore essential to always carry appropriate warm clothing that can be removed in layers as needed. Some parts of the trail have loose stones and other sections may be slippery. Although most of the path is wide, certain stretches are quite exposed and require caution. The use of trekking poles is highly recommended.

    Trails

Tenerife and La Palma have a network of certified trails conforming to European standards.

    We recommend

Appropriate hiking clothing and sturdy footwear. During the routes, it is necessary to carry food and sufficient drink, as well as sun protection, a hat, a lightweight windbreaker and, in the winter months, warm clothing.

    Luggage transfer

We take care of transferring luggage from one accommodation to the next, so during the routes you only need to carry a day pack with the essentials. For the whole trip, the most practical option is a single suitcase weighing no more than 20 kg.

You can book for any date!

    Flying to Tenerife

The island of TENERIFE has two airports: one is in the north (TFN), close to the capital, ideal for those staying in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, La Laguna or Puerto de la Cruz, or for those planning to connect with a local flight to other islands.

Reina Sofía Airport, located in the south of the island (TFS), is close to Puerto de Los Cristianos and the tourist resorts of the south, and is the most suitable for boarding ferries to the islands of La Palma, La Gomera or El Hierro.
