Day 2
TENRIFE - Anaga highland: to Chinamada
Using the regular bus (lines 76, 274 and 275), your walk begins today at "Mirador Cruz del Carmen", about 30 minutes by bus from your accommodation. Marked as PR TF 10, the path cross an spectacular rain forest direction to “Chinamada”, a little hamlet in the very north from Tenerife. This is a circular walk through the prehistorical laurel forest, with impressive views to the northern sea side. The tour will pass by “Casas del Río”, “Roque de Tenejias” and “Batán de Abajo” before get back uphill to “Cruz del Carmen”.
The return to the hotel in “San Cristobal de La Laguna” will be done with regular bus.
Today our driver will drive you to “Vilaflor” the highest village from Spain. Along the GR131 you will arrive to one of the most impressive landscapes on the Canary Island. The beautiful hike takes you through pine forest and almond tree groves. Lava bombs line the path to the fairy tale moon landscape. After “Montaña Bermeja” you find an scenario of light-colored pumice stone minarets and turrets which are among the greatest natural wonders of Tenerife. The path leads you back to “Vilaflor”, from where the driver will pick you ap and bring back to “San Cristobal de La Laguna” through the spectacular highland road at “Las Cañadas del Teide”, with impressive views to “Pico del Teide”, the highest mountain all over Spain.
TENERIFE - from “Las Galletas” to “Los Cristianos” along the seaside
Our driver will drop you today at the picturesque fisherman’s village from “Las Galletas” (The Cookies) and will follow until “Los Cristianos” to deposit your luggages. The walk, today, remain mostly at the sea level, pointing towards “Los Cristianos”. After leaving the Red Cross building behind, the path crosses a couple of small beaches and natural pools, until entering into a landscape of palm trees. Few minutes later you'll arrive to the lighthouse “Punta de La Rasca”, a protected natural space with splendid views to the coastal side, and will pass by “Palm-Mar” before arriving to “Los Cristianos”
Your luggage has been deposited on the “Fred Olsen” trolley and at 7:00 p.m. your Fast Ferry will depart to the neighboring island of La Palma. Transfer on arrival to “Santa Cruz de La Palma”.
Today you will hike along the mythical “Ruta de Los Volcanes” (GR 131), starting at Refugio del Pilar and ending in the far southern side of the island, at the little village of “Fuencaliente”. After a 40 minutes taxi transfer you start your walk at “Refugio del Pilar”, some 1.450 mts above sea level.
The walk begins with an steadily ascend and eventually leave the pine forests behind. While walking through the trees you pass a series of viewpoints with magnificent views to the “Caldera” crater and the entire “Aridane” valley. Step by step you'll reach the recent volcanic area and will pass by the crater of the “Hoyo Negro” and “Duraznero”, both erupted in 1.949 (“San Juan” volcano). The “Deseadas” (1.950 mts high) are two older volcanoes and both craters represent the highest peak of the entire volcanic range. From this point begin your descend step by step through fields of soft volcanic ash. After passing by the “San Martín” volcano, one of the most beautiful volcano all over the route who erupted in 1.646, you will enter in a pine forests until you arrive to the end of your walk, at “Fuencaliente”, some 650 mts above the sea level. Return by public bus.
Today’s walk takes you inside the “Caldera” crater, National Park since 1954. After a 75 minutes transfer you reach the viewpoint “Los Brecitos”, some 1050 mts above the sea level. The path descends gently towards the center of the crater. You will pass by ancient tobacco plantations and some spectacular viewpoints. After 2 hours walk you arrive to the camping area, also known as “Playa de Taburiente” (beach), a nice place to make a short break. Here you need to cross the little river and follow de “Reventón” in a short but steep descent. Before reaching the “Angustias” gorge, you will pass the holy rock of “Roque Idafe”, a sacred symbol of the aborigines. And few minutes later you will arrive at the two rivers junction: “Limonero” and “Almendro Amargo”. From here you can do a brief visit to the "Cascada de Colores" just 10 minutes in the opposite direction.
You’ll still walk two hours along the “Angustias” gorge and crossing occasionally the little water flow until the end of this hike.
Our driver bring you today to the highest place on La Palma: the “Roque de Los Muchachos”, 2426 mts above the sea level. Walk along the GR131, on the “Caldera” rim from “Roque de Los Muchachos”until “Pico de La Cruz” (2351 mts above the sea level). In that walk you will enjoy the imposing cliffs, with 1000 mts drops into the cráter.
The “Caldera” rim forms a semicircle of 27 Km. There are different astrophysical observatories from various countries. Views to the entire island are absolutely spectacular as well as neighboring islands views. The trail progresses in a slight descent passing through iconic places like “Pared de Roberto”, an impressive basaltic dam and “Degollada de Franceses”, lookout to both side of the island. Once you get to “Pico de La Nieve” and after enjoying the magnificent views to the Eastern side, you must leave the GR131 and follow the PR LP 3 downwards for 30 minutes. You’ll arrive to a parking area where the driver is waiting for you.
Possible extension of your stay on La Palma or transfer on your own to the airport from for your return.

It is also possible to book some additional overnight stays, before or after the hiking week, or an additional week to relax.
Difficulty
The hiking week is considered demanding. Not suitable for vertigo sufferers as some trails run through narrow passages. In some sections the trail can be slippery due to loose stones and / or wet parts, especially in rainy days. To participate and enjoy the routes, it is essential to have an adequate state of health and physical condition.
Walking trails
The islands of Tenerife and La Palma have a well-signposted network of trails, of more than 1000 km. All the sections through which our routes run are perfectly marked. In addition to precise directions, you will receive a detailed map of the island.
We recommend
Appropriate hiking clothing and sturdy footwear. During the routes, it is necessary to have food and enough drink, as well as sun protection, a hat, light windbreaker and in the winter months take into account warm clothing. We offer free chestnut wood canes.

Luggage transfer
We organize your luggage transfer from hotel to hotel. In this way, you should only need a backpack to be carried with the essentials for the day hike. For the whole trip, we recommend to use a single suitcase, not heavier than 20 kg.
