Crossing Los Ajaches – Femés ▸ Playa Quemada
The Los Ajaches mountain range, in the south of Lanzarote, was home to the indigenous people. Today the village of Femés, with its agricultural and rural tradition, sits on its upper slopes. Femés is a perfect vantage point with views to the south. The islands of Lobos and Fuerteventura can be seen on the horizon, as well as the Papagayo Natural Park in the south of Lanzarote. The route begins by circling the Picos de La Aceituna (altitude 450 metres) and Pico Redondo (altitude 555 metres), heading southeast across the island.
The views towards Fuerteventura and the small island of Lobos are stunning, and gradually the trail begins a continuous descent through the ravine, with breathtaking views over Playa de la Arena. Upon reaching Playa Quemada, a modest fishermen’s enclave in the south of Lanzarote, you can enjoy a swim in the sea before returning to Yaíza.

DAY 3
The La Geria Trail – Yaíza ▸ Bodegas La Geria
Setting off directly from the hotel, the Lanzarote Natural Trail heads towards Uga and gently climbs through the stunning volcanic landscapes of La Geria, where thousands of vines grow in vast fields of deep black volcanic ash, dotted with the cheerful green of fig trees and vines.
This is a wide, easy path that crosses the endless expanse of the so-called gerias (semicircular walls of volcanic malpaís that protect the vines from the constant wind), which are characteristic of the area and give it its name.
Upon reaching the foothills of Montaña Guardilama, the trail offers the option of a swift ascent to its summit, where a spectacular 360° panorama over the whole of Lanzarote opens up. After the descent, the trail heads along its final stretch to the Bodegas de La Geria, where you can sample their exquisite wines after the walk.

DAY 4
Through the Soo Volcanoes to Caleta de Famara
From the small village of Soo, a rural settlement in the northwest of Lanzarote, the trail skirts Pico Colorado (206m) before joining the path that climbs to its summit, rewarding you with a magnificent panorama over the Famara coastline and cliffs with the Chinijo Archipelago as a backdrop.
The trail then crosses the entire Natural Park, leaving behind the group of volcanoes formed by Montaña Juan del Hierro and Montaña Chica, until reaching the northern shore of Lanzarote.
Finally the path makes its way to Caleta de Famara, a picturesque spot beside the imposing Famara Beach, full of surfers in a relaxed and easy-going atmosphere, along with a wealth of eateries where you can grab a bite or cool down after the walk.

DAY 5
Risco de Famara – Caleta de Famara ▸ Haría
Today is hotel change day. The driver who handles the luggage transfer to the north will drop you at Caleta de Famara, from where you begin a route that ascends the cliffs and ends in Haría, right at Hotel DelMás, your next accommodation for the following three nights.
The Risco de Famara is an imposing mass rising up to 600 metres above the sea. As the winding trail climbs, the narrow beach stretching at the foot of the Risco gradually shrinks below.
At the top of the Risco, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view over the small islands that make up the Chinijo Archipelago. The path then descends into the Valley of a Thousand Palm Trees before reaching the Village of Haría, the enclave chosen by César Manrique to spend his final years.

+ Hotel Emblemático DelMás (or similar – Haría)
DAY 6
Walking on La Graciosa ▸ Playa de La Cocina
The island of La Graciosa awaits!! Our driver will take you to the port of Orzola, where the catamaran “El Graciosero” will carry you in just over 20 minutes to Caleta del Sebo, the landing point on La Graciosa.
La Graciosa is an island with no vehicle traffic. The trails and tracks are used only by walkers or cyclists. Very occasionally you may come across a Land Rover from the Environment service.
The trail runs along the coastline beside turquoise waters. The various beaches you encounter along the way are perfect for swimming and follow one after another until reaching Playa de La Cocina, next to Montaña Amarilla.
On the return journey, the silhouette of the Famara cliffs accompanies you back to Caleta del Sebo. And in the late afternoon, “El Graciosero” will take you back to Orzola to return to your hotel in Haría.

The trail runs northward along the entire cliff edge, with a constant panorama over the various islands that make up the Chinijo Archipelago. The path then heads towards the Volcán de La Corona, which you can ascend for a magnificent view. The route ends in Yé, a tiny village in the north.

Why walking Lanzarote ?
Lanzarote is a land of enormous contrasts combining in perfect harmony. Its volcanic nature gives it some Dantesque landscapes that are difficult to imagine unless you walk through them.
But its idyllic valleys in the north with centuries-old palm groves and beautiful farming villages show a completely different side of Lanzarote.
The initial settlers in Lanzarote were people that travelled their island on foot, moving from north to south and from east to west with goods. From the south came fish. From the north, pulses and vegetables… Today these ancestral paths allow us to offer the best hiking routes in Lanzarote, over the course of a week full of contrasts.
Volcanic landscapes
The volcano erupted for six long years. Day by day Lorenzo Curbelo, the island’s parish priest, wrote down their despair. On the September 1st, 1730 the earth opened up, creating a scene of fire and lava. Nine villages disappeared under the slag. Lanzarote was depopulated. Its inhabitants emigrated.
Today the reality is different. The island has made the best of this past natural disaster. The spectacular volcanic landscapes have become a major tourist attraction. Walking and hiking in Lanzarote through its volcanoes and lava fields is an unrepeatable experience.
Walking Lanzarote Highlights
Our programme of 6 best walks in Lanzarote covers the most diverse landscapes. It also includes a trip to the neighbouring island of La Graciosa, only 30 minutes away by boat. The routes range from luscious palm groves, through volcanic scenery to trails along the coast, with beaches of crystal clear water and pristine white sand.
These are routes of a medium level of difficulty, suitable for people in normal physical condition who do sport from time to time.
Island nature
Lanzarote is an island of gentle relief. The Los Ajaches mountain range in the south and the Peñas del Chache in the north do not exceed 700 metres in altitude. The trade wind clouds cross the island from side to side without unloading heavy rains or humid weather. This is why the island’s nature is sparse, with scrub vegetation predominating. Only in the northern valleys do we find extensive palm groves that offer a different perspective of the island.
Cesar Manrique
The multifaceted Lanzarote artist Cesar Manrique has left his mark on his island. A forerunner of conservationist ideas, he promoted measures to prevent tourist overcrowding that are still enforced today. In addition, he devised unique architectural spaces perfectly integrated into the volcanic environment of Lanzarote. Today we can visit them through different centres such as the Cesar Manrique Foundation, the Jameos del Agua or the Mirador del Rio, among others.

HOTEL CASONA DE YAÍZA
La Casona de Yaíza is a charming rural hotel located in the picturesque village of Yaíza, in the south of Lanzarote, near Timanfaya National Park and the Papagayo beaches. The building dates back to 1825, when it was built as a summer residence by a landowner, notable for its rustic and noble architecture typical of the period.
This former stately home has been expertly converted into a boutique hotel with an elaborate decorative style reminiscent of Renaissance manor houses. Among its facilities, the hotel offers a heated outdoor swimming pool, a jacuzzi and Wi-Fi connection, as well as a refined restaurant. Its strategic location makes it an ideal starting point for exploring the island, combining rural charm with modern comforts in a unique setting overlooking the Fenauso Valley.

HOTEL EMBLEMÁTICO DELMÁS
The Emblemático DelMás Hotel is a monumental, stately home built in the 18th century, located on a 10,000 m² estate in the centre of Haría. This environmentally sustainable hotel is ideal for rest and relaxation, with a piano lounge available and views of a century-old garden and the mountains. It has an outdoor swimming pool, free WiFi and free parking. Rooms have private bathrooms and flat-screen TVs. Perfect for couples seeking exclusivity and tranquillity in a privileged historic setting in the north of Lanzarote.
Additional overnights
It is also possible to book some additional days, before or after the hiking week, or an additional week to relax.
Difficulty
To successfully achieve the 6 walks it is necessary a good physical condition, steady walk and lack of vertigo. According to the year season, temperatures can be extreme (hot and/or cold). Therefore, it is necessary to have suitable warm clothes permanently, to be removed as layers if necessary. Some parts of this trail include passages with slippery loose stone. Although most of this trail is roomy enough, certain sections are quite aerial and require caution. Using hiking poles is highly recommended.
Trails
The Canary Islands has a well signposted network of trails. All sections where from our tours are perfectly marked. You will get from us precise indications of each route and assistance from the hotline on your walks.
We recommend
Appropriate hiking clothing and sturdy footwear. During the tours, it is necessary to have food and drink enough, as well as sun protection, a cap, wind jacket and, in the winter months, warm clothing.
Luggage transfer
We move your luggage from one accommodation to next, so on your hikes you should only carry a backpack with the essentials of the day. For the whole trip, it is recommendable to use a single suitcase, not bigger than 20 kg.
You can book at any date!
