BOOKING
Year after year, hikers from all over the world choose Lanzarote as one of the most enigmatic, unique and memorable destinations in the world.
Its curious orography and the particular atmosphere of the island’s soil have captured the fascination of hundreds of thousands of hikers from the furthest corners of the earth. Due to its volcanic past and the perfect combination of a tropical climate and a unique relief, Lanzarote has developed the perfect conditions for an adventure similar to the best science fiction film, its reddish soil and its irregular geography have given the island the honour of being the terrestrial point whose landscapes almost resemble the relief of the surface of Mars. Scientists from NASA and the various space agencies have carried out hundreds of tests on the sulphurous soils of Lanzarote to simulate what a trip to the mythical red planet would be like.
The northernmost of the Canary Islands is also the closest to African soil and perhaps this proximity has given Lanzarote almost perfect climatic conditions. It is known as “the island of eternal spring” because during most of the year the temperatures are the most pleasant of the archipelago and its low rainfall favours the practice of hiking in its beautiful landscapes.
In Lanzarote there are dozens of hiking trails of different levels of complexity and that are suitable for all levels of experience. From the gentle paths through its calderas to the steep walks through its dormant volcanoes. Discovering Lanzarote’s routes is an out-of-this-world experience.

The Famara Cliffs
From the beautiful village of Haría the trail heads towards the Risco de Famara, a natural wall located in the northwest corner of the island of Lanzarote. From the top of the majestic cliff we enjoy splendid views of the small island of La Graciosa. The path runs southwards along the edge of the cliff with a spectacular view towards Famara beach. And on the way back towards the Valley of the Thousand Palm Trees, we are accompanied by a splendid view of the La Corona volcano. But at the end of this first route in Lanzarote, the house-museum of the artist Cesar Manrique in Haría is a must-see. There he lived and painted in peace with his land during the last years of his life.

Day 3
Climb to the Caldera Blanca
The climb tour to the crater of Caldera Blanca is located very close to the Timanfaya National Park. It is the crater of a volcano that resulted from a single eruption. Its perfect crater has a diameter of 1.2 kilometres and the spectacle that opens up when you reach its summit cannot be described in words. From the village of Mancha Blanca, before reaching Timanfaya, the path starts along the road through some badlands until it reaches the base of the volcano. After a continued ascent and reaching the edge of the crater, a huge blanket of volcanic slag and recent craters spreads out to the south. This is Timanfaya, the Montañas de Fuego National Park. And to the north, the small rural villages of Lanzarote colour the landscape until you reach the cliffs of Famara. And after the route, there is still room for a visit to the National Park.

Day 4
Femés - Aceituna Peak - El Pozo beach
The mountain range of Los Ajaches, in the south of Lanzarote, was the seat of the aborigines. Today the village of Femés, with its farming and peasant tradition, sits at the top of the mountain range. Femés is a perfect vantage point with views to the south. The islands of Lobos and Fuerteventura are within its visual space, as well as the Papagayo Natural Park, in the south of Lanzarote. The route begins with an ascent to Pico de La Aceituna, whose peak is 450 metres above sea level. From there the trail continues until it reaches the next peak: Pico Redondo at 555 metres above sea level. After enjoying magnificent views of the east and south coast of the island, you begin a continuous descent down the ravine, with impressive views over Playa de la Arena. And when you reach Playa Quemada, a humble fishing enclave in the south of Lanzarote, you can enjoy a swim in the sea before returning to Arrecife.
