Gran Canaria represents a mini-continent, as all the climatic zones of the world are wonderfully combined in its small size.

Many tourists come to the island every year in search of long sandy beaches, sun and the eternal spring climate that offers pleasant temperatures all year round. But what many of the tourists from all-inclusive hotels don’t know is that the island hides a treasure that is even more beautiful than its already spectacular beaches.

Gran Canaria’s hiking trails hide wonderful landscapes. Routes of varying complexity, suitable for all levels of experience. The coastal routes allow us to walk on ancient paths along the most impressive cliffs. The vastness of the sea, the deep blue sky and the volcanic landscape transport us to a prehistoric world that we can enjoy step by step with all our senses. The deserts and moors are of a unique beauty, and if we want to go on mountain routes and walk through the greenest forests, we can do so on the mountain routes of Gran Canaria. In just a few steps we go from wild paths to green orchards.

The island is one of the most interesting and varied hiking destinations in the world, with spectacular tours and experiences that you simply have to do once.

And in the distance you can see the peak of Teide, on the neighboring island of Tenerife. During the route you will cross ancient troglodyte settlements recognized by UNESCO, in the Caves of Caballero and Cuevas de Los Candiles before arriving at Artenara. Located 1,270 meters above the sea, Artenara is the highest town on the island with around 400 cave houses. These caves were mostly carved in the 15th century. It is undoubtedly the icon of Gran Canaria and a must-see during your stay on the island. Start your route today at Llanos de La Pez (10 min drive from the hotel), ascending through pine forests towards the crest of the Riscos de Tirajana. Extraordinary views open up to the south, showing you the deep ravines and cliffs with vertical drops. When you reach La Foguera, you will enjoy a spectacular view of the Roque Nublo, the Caldera de Tejeda and the Roque Bentayga rising in its centre.
