Las Tricias
A walk in the northwest of the island of La Palma and a visit to the Puntagorda market. In the footsteps of the past, we walk from Las Tricias through the idyllic landscape of the northwest of La Palma. As if it were a lost paradise, exotic farms intermingle with ancient dragon trees and almond fields.
Buracas Caves
The Buracas Caves with their prehistoric hieroglyphs take us back to the aboriginal era, a pre-Hispanic culture that was buried after the arrival of the conquerors in 1493. The nerve center of Las Tricias is formed by the church and its square, on whose side we find a picturesque bar where the exotic foreign community shares its time with the locals.
The Dragos
From there, a beautiful paved path gently descends between the recreation houses, crossing orchards and gardens and sharing the daily life of the inhabitants of this happy place.
Beautiful colonial-style buildings with hipped roofs and wooden balconies are grouped together forming nuclei and small squares on the edge of the Izcagua Ravine. Doña Acerina spots us in the distance and is already waiting for us to offer us her toasted almonds.
The Aborigines
In the distance we discover a group of centuries-old dragon trees recreating shapes like gigantic chandeliers. The road continues downhill towards the ravine where we can see the caves that the Benahorítas used to inhabit, today re-inhabited by new European settlers.
The route through Los Caminos de Ensueño
Always with the intense blue of the sea as a backdrop, we reach the Cuevas de Buracas where, through the petroglyphs, we can distinguish the traces of the ancient inhabitants of La Palma, observe their carved traces in the stone and decipher, perhaps, its mysterious contents.
After the impressive walk we visit the Puntagorda market with its local products and crafts.
