Arrival for this program is possible at any time.
La Palma
La Palma is not only known for its beautiful, year-round mild climate – it is not for nothing that “eternal” spring – the island also offers a breathtaking landscape and plenty of largely untouched nature. While the other Canary Islands are partly characterized by mass tourism, you will find plenty of originality on La Palma. Not only the landscapes on the island, the villages have preserved their originality and cast a spell over the visitor. So that you can enjoy all this undisturbed, we have designed various hiking programs.
For hikers La Palma is the perfect destination. The island is well developed for hikers and offers an impressive panorama. We have put together a multi-day hiking program that will take you across the island from hotel to hotel. You will discover the beauties of the island on your own, without being tied to a hiking group. You decide your own pace and explore this exciting island in its own rhythm.
We organize your accommodation, cab transfers and are at your side with advice and support. This is what awaits you on your hiking trip with the La Palma GR131 program:
Day 1: Arrival on La Palma with your flight. Transfer to the hotel in Santa Cruz de La Palma. Info meeting in the early evening to give you all the necessary information and material.
Day 2: Taxi transfer to the southern tip and starting point of the GR131. At the salt pans you start the hike steadily uphill. The youngest volcano, the Teneguia and the volcano San Antonio you will experience until you reach the village of Fuencaliente. Continue on the volcano route towards Volcano Martín and to the highest elevation on this day, the Deseadas at 1949m. Magnificent views over the west and east sides. In front of you the view of the National Park. The trail continues past Duraznero Volcano and Hoyo Negro to Refugio el Pilar. Taxi transfer to the hotel.
Day 3: Taxi transfer to the Refugio el Pilar. You start leisurely with the hike over the Cumbre Nueva to the Reventón. From there the ascent to the crater rim of the caldera begins. It goes up to Pico Ovejas, Pico Corralejo, Pico de la Sabina and past the Refugio Punta del Roque to Pico la Nieve, Pico la Cruz to the observatories and the highest point of La Palma, the Roque de los Muchachos at 2426m. Spectacular views inside the crater accompany this excellent hike on this day. Taxi transfer to the hotel.
Day 4: Taxi transfer to Roque de los Muchachos. Today starts at the highest point. It goes downhill along the crater rim. The view goes over the south with the hikes already done. In constant alternation with steeper and more comfortable passages it goes continuously downhill to the Torre de Time and El Time. The last part goes down to the Puerto of Tazacorte. Taxi transfer to the hotel.
Day 5: Drive to the airport – Departure or extension
NOTE: These 3 day hikes are only for experienced hikers.
Tip: Extension by 2 rest days between the hikes – 2 additional nights on request.
We classify the La Palma Gr131 hiking trip as demanding. Good physical condition and surefootedness are required to enjoy this trip. The trip is not suitable for people with fear of heights. Partly the hiking trail runs along narrow paths, some of them unpaved. On some sections you will also walk over loose rocks or slippery passages in wet weather.
